Suicide prevented on Ubon Ratchathani bridge

Suicide prevented on Ubon Ratchathani bridge

A young man was prevented from jumping to his death from a bridge over the Mool River in Ubon Ratchathani early on Tuesday.

The day before was World Suicide Prevention Day.
Police, the provincial rescue squad and an emergency crew from the Sawant Bucha Tham Foundation were at the bridge in Warin Chamrab district at 1.34am confronting the man seen standing at the edge of the bridge, evidently preparing to jump.
He was talked into coming away from the edge and officials learned his identity. The 28-year-old is an employee of a local minimart.
He said he was frustrated because his sister refused to answer his phone calls.
When the man suddenly turned his attention back to the river, a foundation rescuer grabbed him and put him in a headlock.
Once police were assured he’d calmed down enough, the man was sent home without charge.
