Water Resources bill gets strong NLA backing

The Water Resources Bill sailed through the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) on Friday, after more than 19 months of deliberations.

Most of the 199 NLA members present during the Friday session voted in support of the draft law. Only two votes opposed the bill with six abstentions.
“When this bill becomes a law, the country’s water management will be well-integrated,” Office of National Water Resources secretary-general Somkiat Prajjamwong said in his capacity as deputy secretary to the NLA ad-hoc committee on the bill.
The draft law is expected to contribute to Thailand’s ongoing natural-resources reform.
