French couple found after 4-hour search mission in Krabi mountains

More than 20 officers were deployed to search for two French tourists who went missing in the Panom Benja Mountains in Krabi on Sunday.

The hungry and thirsty pair were eventually found after a four-hour search mission.

Krabi City Police, the Krabi Tourist Police, soldiers and Krabi forestry officers were deployed to search for the French tourist couple, Desmarest Cristophe Paul Henri, 44, and Schmor Muriel, 34.

They both went for a hike at the Huai Toe Waterfall in Panom Benja National Park in Muang Krabi and lost their way. 
Officers gave them food and drinks before taking them back to their accommodation.

Lt-Colonel Attapon Sansukja of the Krabi City Police said: “The couple were staying in Krabi City since Saturday. They rented a motorbike and drove to Huai Toe Waterfall. They headed off on a walk for about five kilometres from the National Park office. After that they were lost. They sent a phone message to their friends for help. Luckily they still had a mobile signal whilst on their walk.”
