Soldiers save teenager from drowning on Loy Krathong night

The Army stepped in to save the life of a teenage girl who was drowning in Phetchaburi province while celebrating the Loy Krathong festival on Thursday night.

Soldiers from the 15th Army Circle and the Army’s Fort Ramratchaniwet Hospital jumped into the Phetchaburi River in Muang district just in time to save Papatya Inphanthang, 14, after she fell in at 11pm.
Happily, the Army had been told to keep watch over the festival activities at the Loy Krathong site behind the official residence of the Phetchaburi governor.
The troops were there on hand to rescue her, administer first aid and then take her to the provincial hospital, where she was declared well enough to be discharged by doctors.
