Bangkok murder-suicide blamed on declining health

Bangkok murder-suicide blamed on declining health

A Bangkok man shot dead his mother-in-law on Sunday morning and then turned the gun on himself, apparently seeking to end the family’s ordeal over poor health.

Suwan Pinthong, 53, left a note advising family members how to assume ownership of their single-story house in Bangkok Noi district.
Found dead inside the house were Suwan and his 68-year-old mother-in-law, Amarin Suwannakas, both with single bullet wounds to the head.
Suwan said in his note he killed Amarin and planned to kill himself since they were “too ill” and other family members shouldn’t be burdened caring for them.
Suwan, though employed at a bank, suffered from insomnia, loss of appetite and weak limbs, while Amarin was unable to walk.
