The uni is collaborating with the Love Is Entertainment development company to transform the old cinema into Lido Connect, a hub of arts, culture and new-generation lifestyles.
“We chose Love Is Entertainment as a partner … because Siam Square has never had music spaces for youth,” Assoc Prof Dr Wisanu Subsompon, from the university’s property management office, said yesterday.
He expected their business partner, which has close links to the once-hugely successful music label “Bakery Music”, to have plenty of useful connections that will helpo give the new venture a head start.

The collaboration will last five years and the university will be spending Bt50million on an infrastructure that ensures the decades-old building retains its appealing. The developers will spend a further Bt30million to Bt40million on refurbishing the interior with a 90’s feel.
“We plan to open Lido Connect on May 1 next year,” said Thep-ard Kawin-anan, the CEO of Love Is Entertainment.
He said Lido Connect would feature movies, fashion, Performing Art, Live House, E-Sport, Technology and Innovation.
The Lido cinema brought down its curtain for the final time in May, to the distress of its loyal fans, after operating at Siam Square for about 50 years.
