Phayao governor Narongsak Osotthanakorn joined Xayaburi&rsquo;s Khop City deputy chief Somneuk Singkham and senior officials from both countries to join the ritual of offering dried food to 339 Thai-Laotian monks. The New Year alms-giving event has been held for 14 consecutive years and promotes the bilateral ties between the neighbours and their people.

Bilateral alms-giving to mark New Year

Some 5,000 Thai-Laotian people attended an alms-offering ceremony at the Kiew Hok Ban Huak border pass area in Phayao province on Monday morning to mark the New Year.
