Bilateral alms-giving to mark New Year
Some 5,000 Thai-Laotian people attended an alms-offering ceremony at the Kiew Hok Ban Huak border pass area in Phayao province on Monday morning to mark the New Year.
Phayao governor Narongsak Osotthanakorn joined Xayaburi’s Khop City deputy chief Somneuk Singkham and senior officials from both countries to join the ritual of offering dried food to 339 Thai-Laotian monks. The New Year alms-giving event has been held for 14 consecutive years and promotes the bilateral ties between the neighbours and their people.
