Chinese shrines in downtown Bangkok crowded as devotees pray for good fortune
Members of the public flocked to Chinese shrines in downtown Bangkok on New Year’s Day to pray for good luck, happiness and prosperity in 2019.
In Pom Prap Sattru Phai district, a large crowd gathered at the Tai Hong Kong Shrine to make offerings in the hope of boosting their luck in the year ahead.
Many also made cash donations to buy coffins for underprivileged deceased individuals via the Poh Teck Tung Foundation office.
Many people also went to Wat Mangkon Kamalawat, previously known as Wat Leng Noei Yi, to pray and perform a ritual to get rid of bad luck and attract good fortune.
