Samut Sakhon family escapes house fire

Samut Sakhon family escapes house fire

A fire broke out at a house in Samut Sakhon province on Sunday morning, causing damage estimated at Bt2 million but all the family members were safe.

Following the 1am fire report, police and fire-fighters rushed to the scene, a two-storey house in Soi Moo Thot 2, Ban Phaew district. The firefighters took nearly two hours to put out the flames but not before it had engulfed the half wood, half concrete house.
A 33-year-old resident, Prapan Yangnok, managed to carry his ailing, bed-ridden father Samniang Huadsamran, 76, out of danger but the family lost the Bt1 million-worth house, Bt900,000 cash and more than Bt80,000-worth gold ornaments and home furniture in the fire, according to Prapan.
He told police that the fire likely originated from the second floor, which was built of wood. The seven family members, including him and Samniang, were sleeping on the ground floor, as they were planning to hold a merit-making ritual for house-warming and for deceased relatives on Sunday.
Police are investigating the cause of fire.
