Songkhla police offer reward for Burmese escapee

Songkhla police are still in the dark about the whereabouts of a suspect from Myanmar who escaped from a cell in a police station so they offered Bt50,000 as a reward for any information that leads to his arrest.

The suspect, Zaw Win, 27, unlocked a padlock on his detention cell at the Bang Klam police station at about 7am last Thursday and disappeared.
Col Pattanapong Thongduang, the commander at Bang Klam, said police were still trying to locate the suspect, checking in all the usual places.
Zaw Win was suspected of being involved with a human trafficking ring that smuggled Rohingya Muslims into Thailand before they were smuggled on to Malaysia. Zaw Win was arrested in Bangkok after 14 Rohingya refugees were found hiding in a forest in Moo 6 village in Tambon Tha Chang in Bang Klam district on January 1.
Police said Zaw Win was a suspected member of the gang and he was arrested in Bangkok and sent to Songkhla.
