RUAMRUDEE International School (RIS), one of the oldest international schools in Thailand, will open its second campus in the capital’s Ratchapruek area later this year.

The new campus will initially offer classes from pre-kindergarten to Grade 5 from August and aims to expand to Grade 12 in subsequent years.
Matthew Fahey, who has been with RIS for 13 years now, will be taking over as principal at the new campus.
Founded in 1957, RIS sees itself as being well ahead of the competition – there are more than 120 international schools in Thailand.

“If you have the right funding, anybody can build a school, but a school is so much more than just its buildings. It’s the history. It’s the people. It’s the experiences. And those only come with time and careful crafting,” RIS head of school, Daniel Smith, said.
The Ratchapruek campus will also bring the RIS standard of education to a different group of people, he said. “We recognise that this is an area where there is a lot of energy, growth and enthusiasm to embrace a really valuable education.”

Fahey, meanwhile, promised that the new campus will maintain the same high standard of education, the same curriculum and will be hiring teachers of the same calibre.
He also said that the key objective would be to ensure his students are successful in gaining admission in top universities.
“A school is all about giving its students greater opportunities in life to further their education and careers, so they can forge positive legacies,” he said.
