Rayong homeless man found drowned in drainage pipe

An unidentified homeless man was found drowned in a drainage pipe on Thursday morning after he apparently fell head-first into a manhole and got stuck.

Pluak Daeng police were alerted at 7am that a body was found in a manhole in front of a goods warehouse on Soi Siam Suriya in Moo 4 village in Tambon Pluak Daeng of Rayong's Pluak Daeng district.
Manop Khongmee, 53, a security officer, was patrolling the outside of the warehouse when he spotted legs protruding from a manhole.
Rescuers from the tambon rescue centre pulled the body from the manhole. The man was about 50 years old. An empty beer bottle was found nearby.
People in the neighbourhood did not know the man. They said they had seen him collecting recyclable garbage.
The body was sent to the district hospital for an autopsy.
