Second suspected member of Pattani hit squad arrested

Pattani police chief Pol Maj General Piyawat Chalermsri on Wednesday led a combined security team taking a 24-year-old separatist militant through a “re-enactment” of the December 29 fatal shooting of a 59-year-old woman.

Masukree Wateh was arrested on January 25 in Songkhla’s Saba Yoi district.
Authorities say he has confessed to being a member of the southern insurgency since 2016 and to being on a five-man team that killed Kanyarat Yot-aksorn in Khok Pho district as she was riding a motorcycle home from a market.
They say Masukree admitted to being the getaway driver for alleged shooter Saifudin Hayiputeh.
Saifudin is now being sought along with Kosenglateh Yama and Abdulromae Doloh, who Piyawat said are believed to be in either Saba Yoi or Khok Pho.
Masukree was the second suspect nabbed in the killing.
Abidin Lateh is also in custody, accused of being the one who pointed out the victim for the gunman.
