Trader rescues bed-ridden man, 82, from Lampang fire

A grocery shop owner drove by a burning house and managed to rescue an 82-year-old bed-ridden man in Lampang's Muang district on Thursday.

Police said the fire broke out at the two-floor house in Ban Sri Wang Phum village in Tambon Nikom Pattana at 11am and by the time five fire engines arrived, the house was consumed by the fire which also damaged three parked vehicles.
Police said when the fire broke out, Peng Sisod, who is bed-ridden, was at home while his children and grandchildren were at work.
Nikon Khmlue, 62, was returning to his grocery store when he saw the smoke. He knew Peng was inside alone and he carried him to safety.
Police say they will investigate the cause of the fire.
