Dusit Zoo’s last animal is reunited with her mate

Dusit Zoo’s last animal is reunited with her mate

The only remaining animal at the now-closed Dusit Zoo in Bangkok, a female giraffe, has been reunited with her mate, Bin Laden, at Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chon Buri.

Zoo director Atthaporn Sriherun said the female Giraffe, called Tawan (Sweet Eyes), was transported to his zoo on Tuesday to join Bin Laden, who had been moved there earlier, and the couple had already been put on public display.
Bin Laden, which is more than four metres tall, was moved from Dusit Zoo, at 3 am on January 15.
Because their height made transporting them difficult, the mission required careful planning and meant two giraffes were the last animals moved out of Dusit Zoo, near Victory Monument.
The zoo, the oldest in Thailand, was built by King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) in 1938 and shut last September.
