A one-year-old boy was killed and three family members injured when a car crashed into the ground floor bedroom of a house in Pathum Thani province early on Saturday.

The incident happened in Tambon Ban Mai around 2.30am.

The parents of the child, and their three-year-old daughter, sustained bruises after a locally registered Honda sedan ploughed into the bedroom. Their one-year-old son perished on the spot as a result of injuries.

The couple’s son, 17, revealed that there were six family members in the house at the time of the accident. He said his aunt and uncle were sleeping upstairs whilst the rest of the family were sleeping downstairs.

The 33-year-old driver suffered broken legs and arms and was trapped inside the sedan before being freed by emergency responders. Bottles of alcohol and empty beer cans were reportedly found inside the car.

Police are awaiting clearance from doctors to question the driver.
