Man’s body found floating in Chao Phraya after suspected motorcycle accident

The body of a Thai man in his late 30s was found floating in the Chao Phraya River near Krungthon Bridge in Bangkok’s Bang Phlat district on Monday morning.

Following a 10.30am report of the body’s discovery, Bang Pho precinct deputy inspector Pol Lieutenant Jettapol Intharakosit led forensic officers, a medical examiner and rescue workers to inspect the body at Saphan Krungthon Pier.
They established that the body was that of a Thai male aged around 35-40, who was wearing a black motorcycle jacket and black trousers, gloves, and brown leather shoes.
The deceased was also wearing a safety helmet.
There were no visible wounds, and no identification documents or valuables were found on his person, the deputy inspector said.
Police suspect that the man was involved in a road accident and had fallen off his motorcycle as it plunged into the river.
The body was sent for autopsy to determine the cause of death, while police would try to establish his identity, so that his relatives could be contacted, Jettapol added.
