A Myanmar worker was killed and another injured when their pickup truck hit the rear of a trailer truck after a tyre burst in Samut Songkram early on Thursday.

Police said the accident happened on the outbound Rama II road in Tambon Laemyai in Samut Songkram's Muang district.

Kungwin Oh, 32, was killed in the front passenger seat and the pickup's driver, Hawin Zon, 43, was slightly injured.

The pickup driver told police that he was driving to Mahachai Market to buy fresh seafood when the front left tyre burst, causing him to lose control of the pickup before it hit the rear of a trailer truck.

The trailer truck was driven by Thongchai Kanacchart, 31.

Police took both Thongchai and Hawin to the Muang Samut Songkram police station for questioning.
