Six nabbed with 2.5 million meth pills in Chiang Rai

Three women and three men were arrested with 2.5 million methamphetamine pills in Chiang Rai’s Mae Sai district early Thursday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided a resort in Ban Nam Jamklang village in tambon Pongpha, where the suspects were arrested. The drugs were found in the room of one of the suspects.

The suspects were identified as Pranom Donchai, 55; Amnuay Samorphan, 62; Nilubon Samorphan, 48; Piyaporn Mahayossanan, 40; Pichakorn Chaiyawong and Sakchai Choomjai, who did not reveal their age.

Police checked the rooms after a tip-off that a gang will be smuggling drugs from Myanmar.
