Report filed against Italian expat after fisherman injured in Phuket boat collision

Relatives of a seriously injured fisherman have filed a report with Chalong police relating to an Italian expatriate, who was allegedly helming a boat that collided with a long-tailed fishing vessel on Sunday off Rawai, Phuket.

Emergency responders were notified of the accident, which occurred near Koh Bon, at 10am.
The injured fisherman is 45-year-old San Malee, who was taken to Chalong Hospital and later transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital.
San was fishing in the sea off Koh Bon when his wooden boat was hit by 64-year-old Jojo Nastri’s vessel.

San was thrown from his fishing boat as a result of the collision. 
His relatives filed a report to the Chalong police, seeking action against the Italian expat. Police have asked Nastri to present all permits and documentation proving the legality and registration of his vessel.
The collision is the only reported marine incident to date in Phuket during the Songkran “seven days of danger” period.
