Gaur found dead in Prachin Buri

Gaur found dead in Prachin Buri

A male gaur or Indian bison has been found dead in a eucalyptus plantation in Prachin Buri’s Na Dee district, the National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department announced.

Prawatsart Chanthep, chief of the Thap Lan National Park, reportedly said the gaur carcass was found near the Naruebodin Jinda reservoir, outside the park on Monday.
Park officials and Na Dee police inspected the carcass and the area on Tuesday.
They said there was no evidence that it had been shot by poachers. But they found serious wounds on the gaur’s chest and flank and said it was probably fatally injured during a fight with another male.
The gaur appeared to be around eight to 10 years old and weighed about 1,000kg.
The carcass is due to be burned.
