Long stretch of Yom River dries up in Phichit

Long stretch of Yom River dries up in Phichit

A long section of the Yom River passing through tambon Rang Nok in Phichit’s Sam Ngam district has dried up, revealing a parched riverbed on Thursday.

The Yom River - which was once so abundant that it flooded riverside homes during the rainy season – started drying up since the start of this year.

With the ongoing dry season and practically no rainfall so far, Yom River’s exposed bed has locals worried about water shortage, both for consumption and farming.
Sam Ngam is a transit point for the river before it runs through the downstream districts of Pho Prathap Chang, Bung Narang and Pho Thalae before entering Nakhon Sawan province.
