Malaysians warming up to Central i-City in Selangor

Thailand’s leading retail developer Central Pattana Plc (CPN) recently launched its first overseas project, “Central i-City” in i-City Ultrapolis in Malaysia.

The project represents the unique Thai DNA and stems from its “Centre of Life” aspiration and lifestyle destination for the community, the company said.
Central i-City is located in i-City Ultrapolis, a lifestyle hub in the capital of Selangor state, which the Malaysian government is pushing as a world-class tourist destination and “Malaysia Cybercenter” in the future.
The first day of the project’s opening was immensely succeed in terms of the number of shoppers, company president and CEO Preecha Ekkunagul said on Monday.
“In the first month of its opening, we have got excellent feedback from Malaysian customers with the number of shoppers exceeding expectations. The shopping centre is located in a high potential area in Shah Alam and is easily accessible from both Klang and Kuala Lumpur because of major highways. The number of visitors from Malaysia to Thailand are the second highest behind the Chinese, therefore we see the opportunity to bring Thai products, Thai brands and Thai culture to Malaysia,” he added.
To celebrate the opening and to introduce Thai culture to Malaysia, Central i-city is hosting the “Sawasdee Thailand” event until May 5 and Malaysians have been participating with positive feedback.
