Three Thais, two Lao men arrested on motorcycle theft charge

Three Thais and two Lao men were arrested on Thursday as members of a gang that smuggled stolen motorcycles from Thailand to sell in Laos.

Police arrested the three Thai suspects at a road checkpoint in Ubon Ratchathani’s Khemaraj district and they led police to arrest the two Lao men at a spot near the Lao border.
The three Thai suspects were identified as Sitthipong Buawan, 26, Prapassorn Chaikaew, 25, and Charnchai Kosin, 34. The two Lao suspects were identified as Inthasorne Mulsa-ard, 42, and Lung Boonkham, 19.
Police at the road checkpoint spotted the three Thais in a pickup truck with two motorcycles.
The three said they bought the two motorcycles from Surin with down payments.
When pressured by police, the suspects admitted that they planned to sell the motorcycles to the two Lao suspects and they would later cheat the finance company by refusing to pay for the instalments.
