It took firefighters about 15 minutes to control the fire, which broke out at about 7.45 am. Furnishings inside the room has been damaged but the fire hadn&rsquo;t affected the building structure. 
The apartment owner told police that no one was in the room and an air conditioner had been turned on just before the fire started. 
Police suspect the fire was due to a malfunction in the air conditioning unit.

Fire damages apartment in Phuket

A ground-floor apartment in Soi Sakornket in Rassada was badly damaged by fire on Friday morning.
