Parade of 10 elephants to be held Tuesday to honour King Rama X

An elephant foundation in Ayuttthaya will bring 10 elephants Tuesday morning to parade in Bangkok to honour His Majesty the King, the foundation announced.

The Ayutthaya Elephant Palace and Royal Kraal Foundation said it would truck 10 elephants from Ayutthaya at 2am to the Territorial Defense Command in Bangkok.
Elephant handlers and staff of the foundation will travel in 10 buses, vans and cars to accompany the elephants and join the march, the foundation said.
Some 100 staff and elephant handlers would get into elaborate costumes at 5am before having breakfast and rehearsing for the march. They will pay homage to the national anthem in front of King Rama VI statue at 8am.
The procession of the elephants and 100 staff will leave the compound of the Territorial Defence Command at 9.10am. The procession will make a right turn on the Sanam Chai road and parade past the Suddhaisavarya Prasad Hall at the Grand Palace.
The procession will stop in front of the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the people and the elephants will make a simultaneous left turn before stopping in front of the royal portrait of the King.
The elephants and the marchers will all kneel down and pay their respects to the royal portrait for 19 seconds.
Delegates of elephants handlers and kraals nationwide will then place of flowers in front of the portrait.
The procession will return to the Territorial Defence Command at 10am and travel back to Ayutthaya.
