New national park straddling Lampang, Lamphun declared

A royal decree declaring a vast area of forests straddling Lampang and Lamphun was announced in the Royal Gazette on Wednesday, taking immediate effect.

The decree signed by His Majesty the King declared Mae Prab, Mae Arb and Mae Lee forests in Lampang’s Sopprap and Thoen districts and Lamphun’s Lee district a national park, called Doi Jong National Park.

The announcement stated that the King invoked Article 175 of the Constitution and Article 6 of the National Park Act to announce the new national park.
The decree states that the Mae Prab, Mae Arb and Mae Lee forest in Tambon Nayang in Sopprap district and in Tambon Mae Thod and Tambon Na Pong in Thoen district in Lampang as well as in Tambon Lee and Tambon Dong Ta in Lamphun’s Lee district a national park.
