Ubon Ratchathani sets up dengue task force

Ubon Ratchathani sets up dengue task force

Ubon Ratchathani has set up a "war room" to respond to dengue outbreaks after over 1,200 people caught the disease and two died.

Suwannachai Watanayingcharoenchai, director general of the Disease Control Department, said Ubon Ratchathani had become the province with the second most cases of dengue in the northeast after Nakhon Ratchasima.
From January 1 to May 27, Suwannachai said, Nakhon Ratchasima had 1,424 dengue cases and Ubon Ratchathani 1,267.
But two patients in the same tambon in Ubon Ratchathani died, prompting the provincial governor to create a task force.
Suwannachai said the Ubon Ratchathani disease control office is working closely with the provincial administration to control the spread.
He said the office has been monitoring outbreak areas and patients while eliminating mosquito breeding grounds.
So far, 23,622 dengue cases have been reported nationwide this year with 30 deaths.
