Four arrested for selling wireless microphones without a licence

Three women and a man were arrested on Monday for allegedly importing and selling wireless microphones without first seeking a licence to use a wireless frequency from the National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission.

Some 26,350 items of electronic devices, mostly wireless microphones of the Hot Rock brand, were seized as officials from the NBTC joined with police to raid a warehouse in Tambon Bang Proa Ngai in Nonthaburi’s Sai Noi district.
The items were worth about Bt50 million, said the Assistant National Police Chief, Pol Lt-General Piya Uthayo.
Arrested were Yupin Namkha, 42, Nitaya Limwilai, 49, Duangkamol Meesuan, 49 and Sompit Khianwichai, 37.
The raid was carried out after NBTC officials found that the Hot Rock brand of wireless microphone was being sold at the Klong Thom market without a licence from the agency.
The NBTC Act requires firms to obtain a licence for use of wireless frequencies before they can sell the devices.
