Digitally ‘handsome’ Tak teen charged with rape

A Tak teenager has been charged with luring a 17-year-old from her parents and raping a person under 18 in a case involving digital disguise.

The accused, identified only but first name Nat, allegedly used photo-editing software to make him look pop-star handsome in the photos he posted on Facebook.

He surrendered to police in Wang Chao district on Friday to hear the charges already filed against him.

Police said Nat, who works as a cow hand, claimed the alleged victim became his “girlfriend” via Facebook a week ago and they agreed to meet in person.

He purportedly said he picked her up from school and took her to a shack – less than a kilometre from the same police station – to have sex and spend the night.

The girl’s parents found them the following day and filed a complaint.

Police said Nat admitted to modifying his photos, making his complexion fairer and applying features to make him look like a K-pop idol.

These were the images that “more than 10” women, all over 18, were seeing when they agreed to meet him for sex, Nat allegedly said, but none complained to police.

Not considered a flight risk, Nat was released pending a court hearing.
