Chiang Mai restaurant offers Bt3,000 in compensation after dog attacks boy

A Chiang Mai mother is calling for action after a pit-bull terrier – that had escaped from a restaurant nearby – mauled her 11-year-old son.

“Nong Saeng” was playing with friends at a construction site near “The Fusion” restaurant, when he was attacked by the dog, which ripped a gash in the boy’s mouth and cheek, before it was chased away by locals.

The boy’s wound needed 17 stiches.
The owner of the restaurant has reportedly only provided Bt3,000 in compensation, even though the mother Jia Chiangtung said she has already racked up medical bills of more than Bt14,000 for the boy’s injuries.
She said the dog had only been there for a week and locals were now afraid of it.
Two dogs were found tied up outside the restaurant on Monday, but the premises appeared empty when reporters knocked on the door. However, when the reporters returned to the restaurant after speaking to the mother, the dogs had been taken in.
Jia said she will file a police complaint about the incident.
