Bangkok man found dead in car with charcoal stove
A man was found dead in his car in Samut Sakhon’s Muang district along with a stove he lit to commit suicide, police said.
The Khok Kham police station was alerted at 9pm that a man had been found dead in a car parked beside public ground used to fly remote-controlled planes in Moo 8 village in Tambon Khok Kham.
He was identified by his ID card as Puttiphorn Ratanakongkiart, 41, a resident of Bangkok’s Bang Bon district.
The car’s engine and radio were left turned on. On the floor behind the back seat was a lit charcoal stove.
A doctor determined that he had died about three or four hours earlier.
The body was sent for an autopsy at the Police Hospital.
Local residents playing football at the ground told police that the car was parked in the early evening with engine turned on. When darkness fell, the headlights were switched on but the car remained stationary, so the footballers went to check and found the driver unresponsive.
They called the Khok Kham rescue centre, whose staff rushed to the scene and unlocked a door with a sling only to find that the driver had died.
