Go South, see Takuapa Old Town, tourism authority says

The Tourism Authority reckons the South has a lot to offer travellers from elsewhere during the rainy season, offering a list of destinations topped by Takuapa Old Town in Phang Nga.

Phang Nga deputy governor Pongsak Karawanon and Nithi Siprae, director of the authority’s southern office, said this week the town has cultural activities on Si Takuapa Road every Sunday until August 25.
These are normally held between November and May, but the authority encouraged townsfolk to offer travellers more during the wet season.
Among many other activities, there’s a fashion show with clothing made from the traditional southern fabric Pateh.
Takupa Old Town also has houses and other buildings in a style unique to the province.
Nithi said the promotion is part of his agency’s South@GreenSeason campaign, and also pointed out other attractions in Phang Nga.
Tourists can camp atop Mount Samed Nang Chi and see thrilling sunrises and visit Phang Nga Bay with its beautiful Khao Tapoo (Nail Mountain).
