The test was conducted at FDA&rsquo;s storage facility of evidence for drug crimes before they will be set afire as part of the 49th Destruction of Confiscated Narcotics on Wednesday in Ayutthaya&rsquo;s Bang Pa-in Industrial Estate.

The event will be held to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The 16.5 tonnes of narcotics &ndash; reportedly worth Bt20 million in combined street value &ndash; were confiscated in 6,910 drug-suppression operations. They include 12.4 tonnes of methamphetamine pills, 3.4 tonnes of crystal meth or &ldquo;ice&rdquo; and 143kg of heroin.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) tested more than 16 tonnes of narcotics – including 12 tonnes of methamphetamine pills – on Tuesday before the drugs get destroyed.
