Crackdown on entertainment venue for operating out of banned building

Crackdown on entertainment venue for operating out of banned building

The authorities have taken action against an entertainment venue for operating from a building that was announced as off-limits.

The building in Bangkok’s Huai Kwang area, which once housed the notorious Nataree massage parlour, was recently found to be hosting the Little Duck entertainment venue even though the National Council for Peace and Order had slapped a five-year ban on the building in 2016.

The ban on the building’s use was ordered after authorities discovered that the Nataree massage parlour was engaged in human trafficking and prostitution.

In 2016, the Administrative Court also put the building off-limits because it was part of evidence proving that the venue was being used for commercial operations despite being earmarked for residential use.

The Little Duck was being run by PSS Entertainment Company.

Bancha Seubkraphan, the public-works chief of the Din Daeng District Office, lodged a complaint at the Huai Kwang Police Station against the company on Thursday.

“The firm violated building-control laws,” he said.

Huai Kwang Police Station superintendent Pol Colonel Puris Jintranont has also launched an investigation into Little Duck facilities, saying “the operator of this place has violated the court order”.
