Registration for ‘eat, shop and spend’ extended through Sept 20

Offline registration for shops wishing to take part in the government's latest stimulus project “eat, shop, and spend” at various Bangkok malls has been extende until September 20.


The scheme will run from September 23 to November 15, during which Bt1,000 cash will be given to each of the registered poor, and Bt1,500 to members of the public to spend while visiting other provinces.


To date, 1,800 people have registered for the scheme, much lower than the target figure, said Suttirat Rattanachot, director-general of the Comptroller General's Department, which handles the offine registration. She did not cite the expected target,


Registration is now open at another 10 shopping malls and wholesale outlets in Bangkok, as well as at all provincial fiscal offices supervised by the department.


Suttirat called on the 1,800 people who have registered to apply online measures to promote their campaigns using te hashtag “east, shop, and spend” in Thai, while pressing Like and helping sharing the information about the scheme on their friends and business partners’ social media outlets.


Information about the registration can be obtained at the department's call center number (02) 270 6400 key 7. An event to orient interested shop owners about the registration is scheduled for September 7 in the auditorium on the 7th floor of the Bangkok-based department, from 8.30 to noon. Online details about the registration are also available on the department website www.cdg.co.th.
