The House on Friday (September 13) agreed to set up a sub-committee to study a proposal to ban the use of weed-killing chemical paraquat in Thailand.
The 39-strong panel set up through a 339:0 approval vote has 60 days to complete the study and provide a recommendation. The panel comprises MPs from both the coalition and Opposition.
Pheu Thai MP Pichet Chuameungphan, meanwhile, called on Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanavisit to immediately issue an order halting the import of Chevron-made toxic chemical to kick-start the efforts.
