New curriculum at Satit Pattana School focuses on student skills

The secondary department of Satit Pattana School has collaborated with Learn Corporation Co Ltd to design curriculum that enhances the academic strength of students through individual development.

The individual development educational plan aims to guide children to study based on their goals and skills.
The curriculum was developed from the 5F’s concept (fun, find, focus, fulfillment and fruition), which allows the students to discover their capacity and preference in order to apply them to their future career, said the school’s director, Ladda Pukiat in a release on Friday.
“In 2020, the coordination between Satit Pattana and Learn Corporation will help the secondary students discover their own selves, emphasising their potential as a ladder connecting to their future success” she said.
Sutee Assavavimol, the project leader of academic team said mainstream education in Thailand is not practical, with most schools focused mainly on student test scores without subsequent additional application or development.
“Moreover, the score is not enough for applying to study at high-end universities” he added.
To solve these educational holes, the collaborated curriculum will enhance academic skills sought by national and international high-end universities via three core pillars. Those pillars are 21st-century required skills reinforcement, British learning curriculum according to Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE), and development of the four practical skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing for students’ daily life.
Another highlight of the project is the individual development plan, which aims to create a teaching plan throughout the six secondary years based on students’ goals, interests and skills in order to help the students find the learning subjects that fit their personal target. The plan also includes the school’s support on academics and activities.
“The school will apply the learning ecosystem to balance the children’s academic and personal targets in the seven hours of the learning day,” Sutee said.
In 2021, the school’s proportion of students from Bangkok and its suburbs will reach approximately be 67 per cent, with the provinces accounting for the remainder. In addition, there will be activities provided by teachers after school in accordance with the concept of a boarding school premium dormitory.
