ISIS vows revenge on US, names new leader

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) confirmed on Friday (November 1) the death of its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi during last week’s raid on his compound in Syria and vowed to take revenge on the US. They also announced a newly appointed leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi.

“Do not rejoice America. The new chosen one will make you forget the horror you have beholden ... and make the achievements of the Baghdadi days taste sweet,” read the ISIS statement to the US.
A security expert warned about revenge attacks after Turkish officials captured 43 suspects who were thought to be members of ISIS and potentially involved in a revenge plan.
US President Donald Trump withdraw the US army from Syria on October 8, a decision that has been widely criticized. However, US troops were seen in northeast Syria today, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights’ (SOHR) Rami Abdurrahman who said at least 150 US armoured cars and trucks had been spotted.
