DOE readies almost 80,000 jobs to tackle unemployment

Department of Employment (DOE) director-general Suchart Pornchaiwisetkul said on Sunday (November 10) that his department is preparing 79,247 jobs for unemployed people nationwide in accordance with Labour Minister’s MR. Chatumongol Sonakul order to monitor unemployment during the economic slowdown and prepare suitable measures.

“The jobs that we have prepared range from vocational level to Bachelor’s degree level,” he said. “The five jobs for which there is the most demand are production workers, sales staff, administration staff, customer service staff, and warehouse staff respectively.”
“From DOE’s statistics, it is evident that personnel in vocational fields are highly sought after in today’s job market,” said Suchart. “Therefore, students should carefully choose the field that can guarantee them a job after graduation instead of choosing general fields where the market is already saturated.”
The Department of Employment has also prepared other measures to tackle the unemployment problem. “Unemployed people can register at any provincial employment office and we will try to match their qualifications with available jobs,” said the director-general. “We are also providing career consulting services, vocational training courses and free advice on how to become self-employed in many businesses.”
To contact DOE for career-related assistance, head to the Employment Office in every province and in 10 Bangkok districts, contact the DOE mobile units or go to www.doe.go.th/smartjob.
