Pareena’s chicken farm might encroach on state land

MP Pareena Kraikup of the Phalang Pracharath Party owns property in her home province of Ratchaburi that partially encroaches on protected national woodland, the Forest Management Bureau announced on Sunday (November 24) following an inspection.

Bureau No 10 based in Ratchaburi said 600 of the 1,700 rai of her property, mainly dedicated to chicken farming, occupies protected land.

Royal Forest Department officials will examine the evidence and if any law is alleged to have been broken, it will promptly file suit against Pareena under the Forest Act of 1941 and the National Reserved Forest Act of 1964.

Officials had requested a subpoena to conduct a further survey of the MP’s property to gather more accurate information and determine whether the chicken ranch trespasses on state land or is illegally owned.
