Fire causes damage to paper factory

Fire at a paper factory's warehouses in the Muang district of Nakhon Ratchasima province on Thursday inflicted losses estimated in millions of baht.

The commander of the Jor Hor Police Station, Pol Colonel Kitti Saengsiriwut, said they were informed on Friday (December 5) that numerous recycle papers and foam boxes were destroyed in the fire, which then spread and damaged the factory’s structure and a transformer, causing an explosion.
Fifteen fire engines took around one and a half hours to bring the fire under control, the commander added.
An initial inspection of the scene showed damage to two connected buildings, along with damage to box-making machines and the buildings’ structure.
“The value of this damage is approximately Bt4 million to Bt5 million,” the commander said. “Luckily, no one was injured as the factory was closed because it was a holiday.''
Police believe the fire was caused by a short-circuit, and the strong winds had caused the flames to spread quickly. “However, probation officers will probe the exact cause of the fire,” he added.
