Upper Thailand remains cool, more storms in South

The weak high-pressure covering much of Thailand will bring morning fog and cool to cold weather in the upper country with fair skies during the day, the Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Friday (December 20), warning road-users to be cautious when driving in foggy conditions.

A strong easterly wind prevails over the South China Sea and the Gulf. Thundershowers are likely in the lower South. In the lower Gulf from Surat Thani southwards, the wind will whip up waves to a height of 1-2 metres and 2 metres in storms.

 

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:
Northern region: Cold with fog in the morning, lows 14-21 degrees, highs 30-36 degrees Celsius. Temperature likely to drop to 5-14 degrees C on hilltops.
Northeastern region: Cool with fog in the morning, lows 18-21 degrees, highs o33-34 degrees Celsius. Temperature likely to drop to 10-15 degrees C on hilltops.
Central region: Cool with fog in the morning; lows 21-22 degrees, highs 35-36 degrees Celsius.
Eastern region: Partly cloudy with fog in the morning; lows 22-24 degrees, highs 33-36 degree Celsius; wave height 1 metre.
Southern region (east coast): Mostly cloudy with thunder showers in 40 per cent of the area; lows 22-24 degrees, highs 30-34 degrees Celsius; wave height 1 metre, increasing to 1-2 metres during storms.
Southern region (west coast): Mostly cloudy with thunder showers in 30 per cent of the area; lows 22-25 degrees, highs 32-34 degree Celsius; wave height 1 metre, increasing to 1-2 metres during storms.
Bangkok and surrounding area: Partly cloudy and fog in the morning; lows of 24-25 degrees, highs 34-36 degrees Celsius.
