Large quantities of amphetamine intercepted during start of New Year holiday
Narcotics Suppression Bureau’s commissioner, Pol Lt-General Chinnaphat Sarasin, and deputy commissioner, Pol Maj-General Phonchai Charoenwong announced they have arrested a total of drug dealers and seized large quantities of illegal drugs in the run-up to the holidays.
Two of the suspects, who are known to be members of a major drug cartel, were caught with 525 kilogrammes of methamphetamine and 6 million tablets of amphetamine at the Hua Talay Intersection in Chaiyaphum.
A further 400,000 amphetamine tablets were found hidden in the tyres of a vehicle at the Phayuha Khiri Checkpoint in Nakhon Sawan and six arrested, while in another incident officers arrested for suspects and took possession of 2 million amphetamine tablets at Chiang Saen District in Chiang Rai.
