Four industries targeted for boost in productivity 

The Industry Ministry plans to raise the productivity of four industries by at least 2.2 per cent this year in coordination with 17 govt agencies, including eight ministries and a state enterprise.

Industry Minister, Suriya Jungrungreangkit said on Friday (December 3) that the four targeted sectors are future food, hubs for biological research and development, modern automotive, robotics and automation system. 
For the future food industry, the ministry has allocated a budget of over Bt100 million for innovative products under the Food Innopolis Project and the establishment of a research centre.
“We have also recruited a new generation work force of 1,000, which would help drive the local economy,” Suriya said.
In biological industry, the ministry's incentives have drawn over Bt50 billion of investments in the manufacturing of bioplastic and biochemical products, of which more than Bt9.7 billion were invested in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
“We also encourage entrepreneurs to establish bio hubs in other provinces," Suriya said.
For the modern automotive industry, the ministry has been promoting the production of Electric Vehicle (EV) in the country. 
“So far, 11 entrepreneurs have submitted investment requests, totalling Bt60 billion,” Suriya said.
In robotics/automatic system, the ministry will encourage entrepreneurs to deploy these new technologies to increase productivity.
“In addition, we will launch the Industrial Transformation Platform (ITP) system which connects system integrators with the industry entrepreneurs to facilitate automatic system procurement,” Suriya said.
The industry minister added that the development of SMEs and startup entrepreneurs will raise productivity and help create innovations.
"We will provide consulting services and support measures, such as factory models for product development and packaging, marketing advice, and enabling entrepreneurs to access funding," he added.
