Gusts and thundershowers forecast for North

Gusts and thundershowers forecast for North

The westerly trough moving past the upper North will bring isolated thundershowers and gusty winds, the Thai Meteorological Department has forecast.

The moderate high-pressure system covers upper Thailand and the South China Sea leading to the cool weather in the upper part of the country with light fog. The plains in the North and the Northeast will have cool weather with minimum temperature in the range of 17-21 degrees Celsius. Mountaintops are cold to very cold with minimum temperatures in the range of 7-15 degrees Celsius.

People in the North should beware of thunderstorms and gusts due to the fluctuating weather, the department said.

Strong easterly winds prevail across the lower Gulf and the lower South. In the lower Gulf of Thailand from Nakhon Si Thammarat southwards, the strong winds will trigger waves up to 2-3 metres high. Ships have been advised caution, and small boats should keep ashore until Sunday (January 5).

Greater Bangkok will see partly cloudy skies with light fog in the morning. Minimum temperature will be 23-25°C and maximum temperature will be 33-36°C. Easterly winds will blow at 10-20 km/hr.
