The minister planned to merge the two state enterprises as NT Telecom. On December 17, he discussed the matter with the chairmen of CAT and TOT in the presence of the labour union presidents of both organisations. 
The meeting concluded that the two state enterprises should be merged, pending Cabinet approval. 
Also, the minister said MDES had deployed an efficient digital infrastructure nationwide and established an international internet network to attract digital investment in Thailand. 
Besides, MDES is expediting the use of digital technology and big data, aimed at increasing people’s income and improve their lives, especially low-income earners, farmers, and those in remote areas.

CAT-TOT merger plan ready for Cabinet

Minister of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) Buddhipongse Punnakanta said today (January 6) he would propose the merger plan of CAT Telecom (CAT) and TOT to the Cabinet tomorrow (January 7) or next week.
