Gold falls as US refrains from retaliation
Gold price dropped Bt450 per baht weight today (January 9) from Wednesday's, after President Donald Trump said late yesterday that the US would not retaliate Iran's missile attack on US air bases in Iraq.
The fall in gold price prompted buying by speculators while others decided to sell.
According to the Gold Traders Association’s report on January 9, the price of gold bar was Bt22,300 per baht for buying, and Bt22,400 per baht for selling.
Meanwhile, the price of gold ornament was Bt21,891.04 per baht for buying, and Bt22,900 per baht for selling.
Analysts said fluctuation of gold price was caused by the conflict between US and Iran.
“After Iran fired missiles on US bases, gold price increased immediately ” they said.
