Pakistani arrested for alleged fake banknotes fraud

A male Pakistan national was arrested in the North for allegedly using fake banknotes to make payments for products before demanding change, immigration police chief Pol Lt-General Sompong Chingduang said on Sunday (January 19).

Muhammad Habib, 31, was arrested for alleged fraud at shops in two locations in Phetchabun province. CCTV footage showed the suspect bringing the Bt1,000 fake banknote to make a purchase and request a refund, speaking a foreign language, causing confusion among the staff.
The police said the suspect was involved in similar incidents in ​​Chanthaburi, Phetchabun, Phitsanulok, Uttaradit, Khon Kaen and Bangkok.
He has been charged with fraud. He will be blacklisted and deported to the country of origin, police said.
