SET falls below 1,500 level, China stocks plunge 8 per cent amid concern over spreading virus 

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) Index closed at 1,496.06 today (February 3), a decrease of 18.08 points, or 1.19 per cent, compared to the previous day.

The daily trade volume was Bt53.17 billion, with an index high of 1,513.43 and a low of 1,495.94.

The SET Index today dropped to its lowest point in three years and three months.
Tisco Economic Strategy Unit estimated that the stock index would fall in a limited downside since investors were still monitoring the increasing number of people infected with the coronavirus.
Elsewhere in Asia, Japan’s Nikkei Index closed at 22,971.94, down 233.24 points, or 1.01 per cent, China’s Shanghai SE Composite ended the day at 2,746.61, down 229.92 points, or 7.72 per cent, and the Shenzhen SE Component Index closed at 9,779.67, down 902.24 points, or 8.45 per cent. 
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index ended at 26,356.98, up 44.35 points, or 0.17 per cent, South Korea’s Kospi closed at 2,118.88, down 0.13 points, or 0.0061 per cent, and Taiwan’s TaiEx ended the day at 11,354.92, down 140.18 points, or 1.22 per cent.
